To launch Bonobos’ new women’s capsule collection, Refinery29 transformed their New York headquarters into a haven for Allyship on International Women’s Day.
Encouraging men and women to “Shape Your Allyship” inspired the graphic takeover of the store with custom installations, product displays, panel backdrop, and a playful interactive photo moment inspired by IWD2019’s slogan #BalanceforBetter. Through an entire day of sold-out dynamic programming we gave women with a vision the opportunity to align with allies across industries, propagating a meaningful, productive engagement on IWD. Guest speakers included Micky Onvural, Bonobos CEO + Philippe Von Borries, R29 CEO, Kahlana Barfield Brown, Journalist and Fashion/Beauty Expert, Brandon Bryant, Influencer and Investor at Harlem Capital + Leland Melvin, Former NASA astronaut and NFL wide receiver, and Krewella, EDM DJs and sisters. The day ended with cocktails, light bites, a discussion with celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson and Refinery29 COO Amy Emmerich, followed by live music and a chance to network.

To beta test Instagram's SparkAR technology, we designed a scavenger hunt of interactive AR experiences in 29Rooms Los Angeles. Vibrant graphic illustrations, custom-designed by Brooklyn artist ShawnaX, became entry points to the “29th Dimension.” Collaborating with Facebook and Buck, physical graphics throughout 29Rooms turned into playful experiential portals when accessed through Instagram. Graphics exploded into space. Simple doorways opened minds to new possibilities. Guests were transformed into interactive art. These discoverable, unexpected interactions were poetically interconnected with a narrative throughline of empowerment, expression, and expansion.

Zelle is light, playful, and all about connecting people. We brought the Zelle brand voice - designed more like a lifestyle brand than a bank - to life for festival goers traveling to and from Governors Ball on Randall’s Island in New York City. We reinforced the client’s brand messaging “This is How Money Moves” with unique activations in each direction that established an authentic emotional connection between Zelle and consumers by being there for exactly what people need, when they need it. On the way to the Festival, a Purple Party kick-started guests’ excitement for Gov Ball. And as they return home, exhausted festival-goers were welcomed to the calming Zen Den, where rehydration and relaxation were provided all the way back to Manhattan.

Evocative behind-the-scenes documentary bringing the sometimes heartbreaking and often hilarious lives of Broadway's understudies and standbys into the spotlight.

HOW WONDERFUL TO SEE THE VERY OFTEN UNSUNG HEROES OF BROADWAY, THE STANDBYS AND UNDERSTUDIES, GET THEIR DUE. IT IS PROBABLY THE HARDEST JOB IN THE THEATER, AND THIS TOUCHING DOCUMENTARY REVEALS THE UPS AND DOWNS OF THREE GIFTED PERFORMERS, WHO ARE STARS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT, AND WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE A WORKING PROFESSIONAL. BRAVO.
~Nathan Lane, Actor
Forget “Smash” and its wan mystery about whether Ivy or Karen will star in the show about Marilyn Monroe. Stephanie Riggs’ backstage documentary, “The Standbys,” packs more intrigue and emotion into 90 minutes than the NBC series about making a musical did over a whole season.
~Joe Dziemianowicz, New York Daily News
Stephanie Riggs’s doc The Standbys is as illuminating for theater fans, introducing the gifted and dedicated actors who, though dreaming of having their own names up in lights, take jobs as the back-up performers waiting in case the star takes “break a leg” too literally one night. Enjoyable and benefiting from a well selected trio of subjects, the film will please drama buffs and aspiring thespians.
~John DeFore, The Hollywood Reporter
Stephanie Riggs’ fast-moving documentary provides an intriguing and, at moments, disturbing look into that unexpected subculture. For those who are familiar with this universe, Standbys is a worthwhile refresher course; for those who aren’t, it’s an eye-opener.
~Simi Horwitz, Film Journal International
This charming and surprisingly moving theater documentary by Stephanie Riggs profiles three Broadway actors you’ve probably never heard of — because they’ve spent much of their careers as understudies and standbys for bigger-named stars. By the end, we’re rooting for all three to get their time in the footlights; all are, as we come to know them, clearly meant to be stars.
